Streaming video has captured the “new” audience like no other. This is brought about with tremendous programming and ease of viewing…on whatever device the viewer wants.
Many broadcasters still cling to the belief that this is a fleeting fad….much like Blockbuster did when they had the chance to buy Netflix in 2000 for fifty million US dollars.
Today Conviva came out with some very strong numbers to substantiate this media evolution:
- Overall streaming has increased rapidly, with viewing hours up 53% year over year.
- Roku remained the most popular way to stream in Q3, up 73% year over year to capture 25% of all viewing hours.
- NFL streaming tallied a 77% increase in plays led by mobile devices, up 109%.
- For top streaming providers’ social accounts Facebook led in followers, Instagram led in engagements, YouTube led in social video views.
