The NAB Show celebrated its centenary in 2023 firmly looking to the future rather than the past. Acknowledging the rich heritage of broadcast, NAB itself started as a small conference in New York in 1923, the association is keen to ensure that broadcast remains relevant to regulators and consumers as the industry finds itself at an inflection point of huge new existential threats and opportunities.
“5G used to be the buzzword, now replaced with AI,” added Allan McLennan of Padem Media Group and ATOS. “It’s not nascent, but not mature either. As AI tools become more robust and understanding evolves, you will see it taking on new dimensions. The companies that are out front, and have the appropriate app will do well. The ones that just do smoke will have a challenging time.”
